Works in Progress Writers Group

Tuesday evenings and Thursday mornings

This group is for anyone working on a writing project of any kind, or anyone who wants to start one, or try one, in a supportive, convivial environment. Get inspired and motivated during our brief in-gathering time, when we discuss what we're working on and give each other ideas and encouragement; then enjoy a stretch of uninterrupted quiet to make some progress on your work-in-progress.  You are welcome to come for as few or as many evenings as you like for the cost of $15 per session. Please email us to let us know that you are coming.

The Story That You Want To Tell

February 8

10 am -2 pm

What is the story you want to tell? Do you want to start your memoir, or record on paper the stories your grandmother told you about her childhood? Is there a novel you’ve sketched out a hundred times in your mind – but never with an actual pencil? Or perhaps it’s a specific experience that you want to commit to written word: a travelogue, an account of what it was like to train for a marathon or undergo treatment for an illness. Let’s take 4 hours to sit down together and figure out what it is that we want to write. Nancy will help you to organize your thoughts by providing cues to get you started. You will have a chance to share your thoughts with others as well as get and give feedback in this group.

Lunch is included.

Please brink a notebook, laptop or whatever device you like to use when you write.

You and a friend

Just For Teens: An afternoon of writing and creating for senior girls.

It is time to come together and celebrate the last few months of your highschool years and the beginning of what's next. Writer, Nancy Shohet West will help you reflect on the past and begin to plan for the future by teaching you the joy of everyday journaling. You will then have a chance to create a beautiful cover for your journal with paints, stamps and other mixed media materials and make a fabric cord bracelet. Snacks and beverages will be served.
